Ruben Angel Gonzalez

Ruben Angel Gonzalez is a professional musician, knowledgeable in over a dozen instruments but specializing in the bass and piano. He has played well over 600 shows in 2018 alone, both through the handful of cover bands he is a part of and through his country-wide tour with the Hermanos Vazques Circus, as well as having been consistently “gigging” since 2012. He is currently self-employed as a musician, as well as providing audio engineering services for Photos by Michael Angelo’s video department and running the audio for Palm City Radio, a McAllen-native podcast. For Ruben, sound and music more than just a job; it is a valuable tool of and a unique, emotional language that transcends human consciousness.

Join Ruben Angel as he takes you on a lyrical, 4-string tour of the bass guitar. Learn about the fundamentals of bass, how to carry a rhythm, basic bass arrangements, and how to stand out from the back of the stage! Students are encouraged to bring their own bass guitar, although this course will provide enough information to enrich even those who have yet to purchase an instrument. Let’s get slappin’!
