Michael Angelo Medina is a professional photographer and videographer. He studied English and Philosophy at the University at Texas Pan-American (now known as UTRGV), before moving on to work for publications such as The Monitor, Pulse Magazine, The Guardian, and US News & World Report. Working professionally since 2012 under the studio name “Photos by Michael Angelo”, Michael’s work has been featured in publications such as The Knot, RGV Wedding Pages, and more. He was also a semi-finalist on the hit show Top Photographer with Nigel Barker, a competitive “survivor”-style show that aired in 2017. Michael has a strong passion for teaching others how to use photography as a business tool, as well as using it for self-expression, coping with grief, and the general encouragement of personal growth. Photography is a great business and a fantastic tool for artists, but it can be so much more than that. Join us as we explore the raw, emotional side of photography, an art form that has helped thousands, including myself, heal from trauma, cope with grief, and balance the mind. Each class will begin with a small meditation session where we will set a personal goal/intention for the day, after which we will take to the streets around the building and photograph “street”-style photography while following open-ended prompts. We recommend bringing at least a cell-phone with a camera, but DSLR/mirrorless cameras are encouraged.

A course where we empower the students with the fundamentals of photography. Join us as we explore the basic settings on your camera, learn traditional framing techniques, and derive inspiration from traditional artists such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and many more. DSLR/mirrorless cameras are encouraged, but the course can be completed with the bare minimum of a camera-equipped smartphone.
